From “hanky panky shanghai” and “go back to your own country with your corona”, to prejudice that Indian people in the Netherlands lack social skills. I think we can agree that these are not nice things to say. Unfortuntely, the Asians in the Netherlands are still hearing this from fellow Dutch people, or they get treated differently because for 'being Asian'. Racism against Asians in the Netherlands is real (even before Corona).
We from the advocacy group iamprofiled want to make Dutch people aware through positivity and creativitythat the problem of racism against Asians in the Netherlands is real and that we should not downplay it. Iamprofiled believes that empathy and togetherness from society can be achieved by having meaningful conversations (also to slowdown the uprise of polarization in the country). Because this is usually a topic that people want to avoid, we want to make it more interesting and unique so that people genuinely get curious and want to learn. We want to achieve this by organizing playful events and posting great stuff on social media (informative articles, podcasts and video's).

Iamprofiled has only been active since May 2020 (although established on 28th of December 2019), which means that there is stil plenty of work to be done to reach our goals - hence this vacancy post. This is YOUR chance to help grow and form a new advocacy organisation! Although we are in its infancy, we are growing quickly (the chairman is an online marketing expert and ex-YouTuber) and we have helped creating opportunities for Asians to have a voice in several organisations. Eventually, we want to be seen more in the mainstream media to reach a bigger audience.

Our content consist of a variety of topics, e.g. like history/culture, racism/discrimination, representation and wellness. Together, you are able to present the tone of voice of iamprofiled in the designs. Furthermore, we offer you lots of freedom of creativity and we think it is also fun if you bring your ideas to the table if you want to!
What are we looking for?
Together with the team (the Creative Team) you are responsible for writing small articles about relevant topics. Our content consist of a variety of topics, e.g. like history/culture, racism/discrimination, representation and wellness. Notice that the text should be accessible, so make sure that a high school student could understand. Furthermore, we offer you lots of freedom of creativity and we think it is also fun if you bring your ideas to the table if you want to!
What are we looking for?
COVID-19 has restricted us to proceed with many of our planned activities to bring awareness of the racism against Asians in the Netherlands, whicih includes (but not limited to) organizing pyshical events. Therefore, we would love to invite you in our iamprofiled memberslist so that we can reach you in the future for our events. It is of course non-committal based, but it will definitely be a creative/unique event, so do not miss it!

To solve the problem of racism against Asians in the Netherlands, is it required to work together with external parties. The Spokesperson is responsilbe for this, which also means that the Spokesperson is aware of iamprofiled's norms and values. Furthermore, as part of the board of directors, you are welcome to play an active role in the decision making of the future and vision of iamprofiled.
